Central Sierra Arts Council has really good news! Sonora Art Trails is our newest Art Partner, and we are thrilled to be collaborating with them!
Sonora Art Trails is one of Tuolumne County’s rising art tourism events with its annual Open Studio Tour. In 2011 Sonora ART Trails will take place on April 30th and May1st. Now preparing for its 6th consecutive year, Sonora ART Trails offers an annual 2-day event where local residents and tourists visit a series of artists’ studios to view and purchase art. In past years many of Tuolumne County’s brightest stars in the visual arts have been involved in Sonora Art Trails. This coming year will certainly mirror that high standard.
BUT HOW DO THE ARTISTS SIGN UP? September is the month to line up artists for the coming year’s tour. Sonora Art Trails will hold a general information meeting on September 8 at 6pm at the home of Joy Willow. If you are an artist, who has even teased with the idea of being a part of SAT, then come to the meeting and hear more about how this event benefits participating artists and our community. Artists’ applications and the $200 entry fee must be in by November 1. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT IF ARTISTS REGISTER BY OCTOBER 1st: Artists can save $50 by taking advantage of SAT’s early bird discount if you register by October 1. For more information and directions to Joy Willow’s home, please call Patricia Cherry at 209.532.0042.Or email her at artofpcherry@yahoo.com.
When asked why they participate in Art Trails, artists responded with comments like these:
“I love the opportunity to socialize with the people coming through my studio. I get to hear their feedback on my work and also on our community. People are always enjoying themselves, and that’s nice energy that they bring to my work space.”
“It’s a wonderful way to get exposure and attract new art lovers. I also like the way this event causes people to travel all through our community. They stop and have lunch or dinner; some even spend the night in one of our hotels or B&Bs. I like being part of something that contributes to our local economy at the same time it promotes the arts.”
So, now is the time! Make the commitment to become a Sonora Art Trails artist early. Then throw yourself into the joy of working on your ART!
