Board members Richard Call & Dona Williams receive gift from Celeste Boyd

CSAC’s ARTS Reach to Schools Program has a Guardian Angel: Celeste Boyd! In April 2010 Celeste was honored with a Lifetime Achievement, given by Sierra Non-Profit Services and sponsored by Sonora Area Foundation. She received $1,000 in appreciation for her longstanding commitment to volunteerism in Tuolumne County. Then Celeste turned around and gave $500 to our ARTS Reach to Schools Program, plus an equal gift to Dawn’s Light Grief Counseling Services. Thank you, Mrs. Boyd!

But Celeste’s impact on ARTS Reach does not begin with this gift. In 1989 Celeste Boyd served as Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Tuolumne County Office of Education. Working with ARTS Reach’s first coordinator, artist Beverly Harrison, Celeste gave birth to ARTS Reach to Schools, providing key leadership.

As ARTS Reach to Schools prepares for its 20th year, CSAC is proud to note its huge impact on local students.  The entire community owes a great debt to the generosity and vision of Celeste Boyd.
